This has been a looong time coming and I am so excited to finally share it with you all. Anyone that knows me know well knows that I love fashion, all things vintage, and anything french or Paris inspired. While I absolutely adore photographing weddings and am so honoured to work with such unique couples and will continue to do so, I have always wanted to incorporate my personal loves into my work in a different way. My newest venture is going to allow me to do so on a different level, and if it’s any indication from my first 2 shoots, I am totally smitten with this! There’s something so graceful and elegant about the care that women took to get ready back in the 1920s and 1930s. No detail was overlooked, whether it be bright red lipstick, a beautiful strand of pearls, to ornate undergarments and streamlined hoisery. Women took the time to really make themselves look and feel beautiful and nowadays that classic elegance is making a bit of a comeback. Though the modern woman may not always have the time to do so on a day to day basis, taking the time to look and feel this way for a special occasion, and even just for yourself can be really fun! Celebrating real women in a way that is sophisticated, beautiful, vintage inspired and even cinematic is my goal with this newest venture. Combining that vintage glamour styling, with a modern twist to me is a beautiful combination. I was honoured to photograph 2 lovely ladies who are real women (not models) who wanted to explore my newest venture with me. We spent the whole day together surrounded by beautiful clothes, shoes, lingerie, hoisery, jewellery, make-up and of course some mimosas to relax any nerves.
Styling is really key for a shoot like this, being able to be hands on with styling and shooting was so fun!!! I’m usually so wrapped up with simply shooting and creating images at a wedding, that it’s my assistant that takes on the task of styling the couple for me. It was such a girly day, we all had a total blast together!! These two lovely ladies have given me the honour of sharing a few of their stunning portraits with you, in the hopes that perhaps other ladies will feel inspired to do their own shoot. Pricing information and availability regarding Vintage Glamour Boudoir will be available shortly! Please contact me directly in the meantime.
Following this post you will see 2 separate posts for each lovely gal, as there are just so many beautiful images to share with you, that they each deserve their own separate post.
In the meantime I really really would like to thank my awesome colleague Lana Baker who is such an incredibly talented make-up artist. Without her ideas and skills these looks would not have been possible! I would also really like to thank Theresa at Salon Defined for the gorgeous hairstylings on the girls, they looked beautiful! And one last thank you to one of my upcoming 2010 brides Lyndsay who provided the vintage inspired delectable cupcakes which we used for the shoot. You can just taste them through the photographs! Lyndsay is such a sweetheart and sooo much fun, and I cannot wait until her upcoming wedding this June!! She’s doing her own cupcakes for her wedding, and is so talented. If you’re interested in having her create some delectable treats for you you can email her directly at lyndsayscupcakes@yahoo.com
Here are a few detail shots to share with you that I captured while the girls were getting their make-up done.
